TECNO Camon 12 Pro - 6GB RAM- Review By WaseemTechy
Hey, guys, it’s WaseemTechy here, and this is my quick review of the TECNO Camon 12 Pro. The box looks nothing like the dark themed ones from any of its predecessors. You have some of the specs around the side.
Box Content:-
When you open it up, you have an envelope that holds the warranty card, A user manual. On the bottom compartment, you have a standard 10watt charger, a micro USB cable, and a pair of earphones. We didn’t get a SIM ejection tool in this box because this isn’t the retail version that you’d get in the store. I do like this textured case.
You can see all the 4G/LTE bands that it supports here, including Glo 4G band 28. A google assistant note, a textured TPU case with Manchester City FC logo embossed. You have to be careful with this one because it has a screen protector pre-applied, and you’d want to follow the directions. This color looks very much like the Lapland aurora of the phantom 9.
On the front, you have a 6.4-inch HD+ AMOLED display with a 19.5 by 9 aspect ratio. On top of that display, you have a dot notch that houses a 32-megapixel camera with dual flash and earpiece. On the back, you have a 16-megapixel primary shooter, an 8 megapixel for depth sensing, and a 2-megapixel ultra-wide lens with Quad flash.
On the left, you a dedicated google assistant button and a 3 in 1 tray that houses 4G/LTE nano SIMs and an SD Card. On the right, you have a power button and volume rocker. On the top, you have nothing while on the bottom, you have a 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone, Micro USB port, and speaker. The Camon 12 Pro’s back and frame are made from a shiny polycarbonate material that makes it look quite premium. It is pretty light in hand.
This year, the Camon series looks nearly identical to the Phantom. I found myself checking for labels and the orange button quite often to distinguish them. The dimensions are so close in all aspects so much so that when I put the case of the Phantom 9 on the Camon 12 Pro, it was almost a perfect fit and vice versa.
Coming from the Camon 11 Pro from last year, we have a full 2019 facelift. From the triple camera set up to the fingerprint sensor that has been moved under the display. It’s thinner, and It does have smaller bezels and chin compared to the Camon 11 Pro. You can quickly tell them apart by their notches, and sure, you can hide the notch.
The AMOLED display has finally made its way back to the Camon series. It is an HD+ display, so you get to consume content capped at 720P. When compared side by side with the Phantom 9’s FHD. You have to close in on both, to see a difference in sharpness. I like the fact it’s well saturated and shows truer to life colors. The display is bright outdoors, is responsive to type on, and has excellent viewing angles. You get eye care, reading mode, etc.
In the settings, we see that it comes with 4 Gigs of RAM and 64 gigs of storage, you have over 54gigs available to use. It runs on Android 9 Pie with the latest HiOS version 5.5 slapped on top of it. In the quick settings, you get all the familiar utility tools. In the app drawer, you get a whole lot of bloatware, and if that’s not your cup of tea, at least you can uninstall them.
A smart panel for quick shortcuts is on by default, and you can turn it off. What you can’t do is turn off or remap the google assistant button.
I hope you enjoyed this article if you did give it a thumbs up and share it. Also, follow me on Twitter and Instagram to see what I’m up to. Please pin the website for more reviews like this as it would mean a lot to me and I’d see you in the next one, peace.
